Our vision

Verloskundige in Amsterdam stands for expert and compassionate midwifery care. We view pregnancy and childbirth as a natural process and believe it is crucial that our guidance is tailored to your preferences. We value freedom of choice, ensuring that every pregnant woman can give birth where she wants—whether at home or in the hospital, with or without pain relief, in a bath or on a bed. In short, as you wish. Every pregnancy is unique, and everyone experiences pregnancy and childbirth in their own way. Our goal is for you to look back on this period with a warm and satisfied feeling.

Since September I have been part of team VIA. I was born in Amsterdam and from a young age I knew that I wanted to become a midwife. I think it is important to provide personal care, in which I focus on the wishes and needs of each pregnant woman so that they can look back on this period with confidence and a positive feeling. Every story is unique, that is what makes the work so much fun for me.

Quality assurance

To ensure the quality of care, we, as midwives, are registered in the quality register for midwives. By being registered in the quality register, we ensure that we attend various additional training, skill training, and interdisciplinary meetings annually. Our sonographers are registered in the quality register for sonographers (BEN).

Internship guidance

Verloskundige in Amsterdam is affiliated with the Academy of Midwifery Amsterdam and Groningen (AVAG). We regularly supervise midwifery students who are following their training in Amsterdam.
There is currently a shortage of midwives in the Netherlands, and at the same time a shortage of internships for students.
Midwives in training are our future. We therefore believe it is important to guide midwifery students. Thanks to them, we remain even better informed of the latest (medical) developments.

Depending on how far the midwifery student is in her training, she will give care under our supervision. She will always do this with our guidance and with permission from you as a client.
If you object to the presence of a student during check-ups, delivery or postpartum visits, you can always let us know. We will keep you informed via our social media channels whether a midwifery student is currently doing an internship in our practice.
